amd a8 6600k or fx6300 or i3 3220 or fx4300 for a mid range gaming pc within Rs. 40000 india

hello all members,
i am from india, i am looking forward to assemble a mid range gaming (GTA IV ,V etc) and photoshop cs5,and running hd videos, after going through your forums, i am a bit confused. some are saying the a8 is not as good as the i3 3220 some are saying the crossfire of a8 and 6670 is far better. after a lot of web search i have narrowed down to the 4 following configs , don't know whether they are good or not and kindly recommend any other configs. my budget is rs 35-40 k (max)
also there are certain things like do i need a aftermarket cooler for AMD if i do not overclock ?
for the monitor i am going with the one with DVI-D input , is it anyway better than VGA ?

Option 3 for sure is the best bet.

the gtx650 will be much better than the 6670 and hybrid crossfire with the APU and 6670 doesn't even really do anything to help performance.

2 and 4 use a motherboard known to catch fire.

option 2 is the worst because the 6670 cannot compete with the gtx650 at all on a GPU vs. GPU basis.

Option 4 is not terrible but the motherboard is an issue.

Option 3 can be upgraded to an i5 later on which will be VERY good for years and I would pick that build for sure.

I would not go i3 for gaming anymore.

I'd go either FX 6300 with a better board or try to save up a bit more and go i5.

No aftermarket cooler needed for either if you do not plan to OC.

A different 970 chipset motherboard. Something from Gigabyte, ASUS, or ASRock would be ideal.

MSI does not have very good offerings for AMD based motherboards.

hello again ,
i was going over the net and i found that these am3+ socket motherboards Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 & Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 as you suggested not to go with msi have pci 2.0 support.
the GTx 650 on the otherhand is pci 3.0 .
i also found that am3+ socket doesnt have pci 3.0 support.
i want to know whether the above mobos will support the GTX 650 or not ? if not whats a pci 2 equivalent to the gtx 650
plzz advise.

There is no problem with a 2.0 port and a 3.0 card. No performance loss.

option 4 ,the fx 6300 is the best choice.I have same processor and low end motherboard.and it beats all the i3 processors,even with the 4th generation i3 processors.In future If you need an upgrade you can go with fx 8 series processors or 9 series processors

anyways i am thinking of either upgrading the processor to an i5 or the gpu to gtx 660. which will be better ?
will the i3 bottleneck the gtx 660 ?

He does not need an i5. An i3 will be fine with a gtx660. The gtx660 will be the better upgrade.

hi,
i am running a very very old system.
core 2 duo 2.1ghz, 2 gb ddr2 and ati 5460 1gb ddr2. i basically want to run GTA IV at high settings and GTA V also if possible. now with all your help i have narrowed down to FX 6300 or intel i3 3220 and finalized GTX 650. now after some more research i am thinking of upgrading.
one more thing is that my computer will need to stay on for 10-15 hrs daily.

option 1. stay with i3 and upgrade GTX 650 to GTX 650ti or 7850
option 2. stay with FX 6300 and upgrade to Ati 7850
option 3. upgrade to i5 and stay with GTX 650

for the motherboard if Amd then Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P
if i5 then Gigabyte GA-B85-D3H
and if i3 then Intel DZ75ML-45K
as i am not planning to overclock so i guess i dont need a costly motherboard.
also how much effect does the motherboard effect on the performance of the overall system and when choosing one what to look for ?

Replace that PSU. That unit is junk. Get a 500w unit from Antec, XFX, Seasonic or Coolermaster V/ VS unit.
