After XP what is the best OS??

Hi Friends as you all know MS is going to retire the xp from next month onwards .Am curious and started inquiring what is the best alternatives to XP Win7 or Win8 or Win8.1? Am really looking forward to your expert opinions before upgrading myself before the XP retires?? Thanks in advance.

There really aren't any alternatives to windows unless you want to buy a new computer with OSX or ChromeOS. You can install a Linux distro (Ubuntu for example), but it isn't nearly as functional as windows and doesn't support many programs. Upgrading to Windows 8 is probably your best choice.

If he doesn't like the new start screen he can disable it and download a start menu replacement as well.

i say windows 7. why? compatible and familiar interface and layout. while win8.1 is the latest and greatest and has a new layout and more behind the scenes tweaks i still prefer windows 7. and there have been issues with win8.1 breaking compatiblity with older programs. do you have a lot of programs from winxp that you like to use? that could be an issue for you upgrading to win8, whereas win7 there should be no problems really. definitly something to consider. but the major thing about win8.1 is the tile interface. a lot of people hate it including me. however if you think you can adjust to the new interface, which isn't that all too hard to do, then by all means win8.1. if you want tried and true go with win7.

8.1 is beast!! It is the newest OS. It can run phone games by downloading them from microsoft store. And if you don't like the new menu you can download a modification to remove the new menu and make it like xp.
