(includes some slow motion) can I use different settings other than the default to make the file smaller...at least down to 4.450 so I can fit it on a DVD DL. Obviously I don't want to lose quality so I would rather make a different file to view on my wide screen TV than shrink the avi file.

You probably could compress it although you will lose quality, I'm afraid RAW video files are big files. You could put the project on a USB and plug that into the TV or DVD player, presuming it has a USB slot.

Yes a USB stick would do it but it seems ridiculous to have to use that for a 40 min film. After all we have fantastic Hollywood movies on DVD discs! Thanks anyway.

Der - I use PowerDirector. I often used 10 - 20 GB of input files (2 cameras, 1080, 1 hour) to produce a movie. No problems. I use an i7 3820 with a GTX 670 and Hardware Acceleration enabled - helps speed up the review and rendering process. The final edit is usually about 1GB. No-one is that interested in 40 mins of unedited movie. If you really have to, lower the resolution or put it on a double layer DVD.
