Hi,

I've recently built a new PC with an XFX R9 280x graphics card. For some reason whenever i boot up with the graphics card powered up it won't display anything on a monitor, it says 'no signal detected' even though there is a clear indication that the monitor is picking up something. However when i boot without the graphics card plugged in it loads up fine on the onboard graphics from the mobo Gigabyte GA-Z87X-D3H Z87 Socket , although can't find now what onboard graphics this has, think it has 6600 in it from wherever i've seen it!

I've tried the graphics card in another PC and it boots up fine and finds it, although i had to download new drivers from the Catalyst Control Center. I was wondering though, as i couldn't even see a display when it is plugged in to the first PC whether all i need to do is download Catalyst Control Center and this will then discover the graphics card once it boots up? (I would just download this and try it but it's for a friend and won't be able to try things out until tomorrow). I've also seen somewhere that it could be to do with selecting to prioritise the onboard graphics when booting up and this would allow you to atleast run the PC with the card in, although can't see anywhere in the BIOS where I can change this!

I should probably also note that the Driver Installation DVD which i tried to get the drivers from seemed to be useless and when I found out that the PC would boot without having the graphics card plugged in all I'd have to do is put in the disk, install the drivers, turn off, reconnect the graphics card and it would all work, but apparently it wouldn't let me run any of the stuff on the disk without being able to detect the graphics card >.<
