Can check, but don't think so, few four slot mobos that max at 16GB total can run 8GB sticks, they are designed for a max of 4x4GB, and while QVLs are fairly worthless, they don't list any 8GB sticks at all

I never thought of that. But you are correct.
@ OP: Check your MB manual. Tradesman 1 is correct. Your board maxes out at 4GB per stick.

yeah i'm using a 64bit os...
I've already read the motherboard manual ... List of Supported RAM are Belonging to the year 2010 but a bios update come in 2011 . Perhaps new capabilities has been added to the board ?
the asus site says my new Mobo (M5A97le r2) can Support Memory up to 32GB but with a new bios update it can support Memory up to 64GB ...
any chance for my old mobo ?
I don't see anything in the BIOS updates notes that indicate anything to do with memory increasing. The memory controller is built into the AMD processors, anyway.
