Overclocking CPU Cause Games to Jitter

I'll try to keep this short and sweet.

I am new to overclocking. I know the basic principles and bare minimum as to what I have to do to overclock.

My Rig:
- AMD FX-6300 CPU (6x 3.50GHz/6MB L2 Cache)
- Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 -- AMD 970 Motherboard
- 600 Watt - Standard Power Supply
- Corsair Hydro Series H60 Liquid CPU Cooling System - ARC Dual Silent High Performance Fan Upgrade (Push-Pull Airflow)

(Misc. Specs)
- 4 GB [2 GB X2] DDR3-1600 Memory Module - Corsair (Along with two extra 2gb sticks, not sure brand, have to check later)
- AMD Radeon HD 7850 - 2GB - HIS IceQ X - Cooler, Quieter - Single Card

I have attempted to overclock my CPU, but even going up one notch on the CPU Multiplier (i.e. from 17.5 to 18), any game I launch will have this "Super Sayen" like lag, everything is very jittery and fast pace, but with a lag like effect. I have upped the voltage to the cpu and stress tested with power savers off (i.e. turbo control, etc.), however, no matter how small of an overclock, I can't seem to run a stable game. My core temps seem to max out at 40 degrees Celcius.

Am I simply doomed to never overclock?
I have managed to overclock my GPU, I don't think that would affect my CPU.

Any advice/help would be appreciated.

Target Overclocking goal: 4.3 Ghtz.

hmm ok, very strange issue you have here, the next thing i would recommend is removing the miss matched ram sticks and just trying it with one brand of ram only, as mixed ram can cause issues due to conflicting timings

Turning V-Sync on "helped", but did not fix the problem. No longer did my characters move at the speed of light, but now it's almost like an FPS issue. Very laggy and choppy. =/

I will have to try that. I won't be able to for a couple of days, I'll be out of town for the weekend. I'll get back to you when I get a chance to try it.

After individually taking the two different brands of RAM out and overclocking on each brand separately, I still have the same results. Sorry for the long awaited reply. I finally got back around to my computer.
