My current hard drive is on its last legs. Running chkdsk fixes the bad sectors, making everything work properly temporarily, but then a few days later, stuff gets corrupted again and my computer slows to a crawl. So I've gotten everything backed up safely, and am now looking for a cheap new hard drive to replace it with.

Pc specs:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ 2.2 Ghz
Corsair 2GB DDR2 RAM
ASUS M2A-VM mATX AM2 AMD 690G DDR2 PCI-E16 PCI-E1 2PCI Video VGA DVI Sound Motherboard
Nvidia Geforce 8400GS

I plan to use this computer for old non-widescreen games.

After looking around a bit, I'm considering getting a WD Blue 1TB drive, since the 500GB is barely any cheaper.

So, do you think that hard drive would be my best bet? Would it be compatible with an old pc like this one?
