depends on what you will be doing with it. the i7 has hyper-threading so in well threaded applications it will be much faster. the i5 for gaming will be the best option. you can always add more ram later to the i7 machine if needed.

I would go with the i7 personally.

Hello USAFRet: Primary use is complex financial programs that are accessed via the web. Also, Excel - then the typical online research with many, many tabs and browsers open at same time. Thanks in advance for your consideration.

Ideally, you'd go for the i7 with 8GB.

Get the i7, but only if it is a single stick and you can add another 4GB stick later.

Guys, especially Bgunner.. remember that this is a laptop, so we're talking about the mobile processors. That means an i5 is a dual core with hyperthreading... and the i7, unless it's a specifically -QM model, is also just a dual core with HT, but with slightly faster clock speeds.

So, OP, which is it - a i7 QM model, or just a regular one?

Yeah, there's really not going to be hardly any difference between those things. I would go with the 8GB of ram, personally... I'm presuming it's also the slightly cheaper option.
