Hi - confused mum here!
My son wants a newer, faster computer than the old desktop we have. He mostly wants to play minecraft, and he has a budget of around £200. I've been offered two for roughly this price.
The first has a republic of gamer motherboard, 6gb ram, 500gb harddrive, AMD quad core @1.8ghz with dvdrw and wifi.

The second (fractionally cheaper) is an intel q6600 core 2 quad 2.4ghz, Nvidia gt640 graphics with 3mb, 4gb ram, 250gb hard drive, wifi.
I've spent all evening looking online and although I gather neither is the 'best' cpu/gpu they look OK for the price. But opinions are divided as to whether they will run minecraft. The test site says both will work brilliantly, but the recommended specs want 2.8ghz - but that's presumably single core and I am getting conflicting info regarding the difference with quad core. I'm told the first one runs WoW fine.
So advice appreciated - which would be better, or am i being totally ripped off even at that price?
Thank you

sorry again - first one cpu is an AMD phenom x4 either a 9100 or 9150e (seller says he isn't sure without opening it up to check and I don't think there is much difference between them)
I've sent a message to the seller asking about the PSU - I didn't think to ask that before, in case he doesn't reply tonight is there any advice you can give me regarding PSUs?

I can't provide a link unfortunately as it is sort of a friend of a friend who is selling them and contact is via facebook - he builds/repairs pcs.

Well in that case I would go for it. I would make sure the PSU is strong enough for the build, but since he's into building and repairing pcs he probably knows what he's doing. For £200 I'd say that it's a little overpriced. If you can get it to go around £150 then that's a good deal.
