-----

My current computer:

CASE • CM 690
MB • Asus ROG Crosshair IV Formula (BIOS v2101)
CPU • AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition
GPU • XFX Radeon HD 5970 Black Edition 4GB GDDR5
RAM • Kingston HyperX Genesis 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600MHz CL9
HDD (OS1) • [RAID 0] 2 x WD Caviar Black 1TB 7200RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6Gb/s
HDD (OS2) • WD Caviar Black 1TB 7200RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6Gb/s
PSU • Cooler Master Real Power M1000
COOLER (CPU) • Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus
OS1 • Windows 7 Home Premium x64 SP1
OS2 • Ubuntu 12.10 x64

MONITOR • LG Flatron E2350V-PN 23" LED Full HD 1080p

I'm going to keep my current monitor as a second monitor and buy a new one.
I don't need much storage, so I'll only be buying an SSD.

-----

Here's what I was thinking:

CASE • I want lots of space and good airflow. Also, it needs to be quiet. My current case makes a lot of metal noise because some metal grills vibrate next to each other.
EDIT: I was thinking about the Corsair Obsidian 750D. Does anyone know if it's silent? I considered the Cooler Master HAF X but I think maybe it will have the same metal vibration noise problem? :S (Also considered the Corsair Graphite 600T but it didn't seem big enough)
Will also need help picking additional fans, and help with fan control, etc

MB • Not very sure. I've always been a fan of Asus, but I don't know if it's the best choice. Was also considering Gigabyte

CPU • Intel Core i7-4770K

GPU • Asus GeForce GTX 780 Ti DirectCU II OC 3GB GDDR5 (apparently the same as the evga one, but maybe has better cooling?)

RAM • 16GB (2x8GB). I like Kingston. Do you think it's a good choice performance-wise? Would Corsair be better?

SSD • Samsung 840 Pro 512GB

PSU • Corsair AX860 80 PLUS Platinum Fully-Modular

COOLER (CPU) • I've never been a fan of water cooling. I don't know almost anything about cooling, but I was thinking of a Thermalright Silver Arrow. What do you think?

OS • Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64 Bits EN

MONITOR • Was thinking about the BenQ XL2720Z but the 27"-1080p ratio worries me a bit :S

MONITOR 2 • LG Flatron E2350V-PN 23" LED Full HD 1080p

CASE - any high end full size tower will give you space and good airflow. quiet is easy with good quality fans. its mainly up to you depending on what you think looks good. however, having worked on several cases, my favorite is the coolermaster HAF XB. Loads of space, very customizable, no strain on the motherboard with heavy air coolers and GPUs.

MOBO - There are a lot of options out there. You don't want SLI / xfire so 1 pcie lane is enough. You need atleast 4 SATA ports. you want a good overclocker. built in wifi / bluetooth? mini vs full atx? pretty much any z87 board will do it for you. considering money no object, get a high end one for better quality

CPU, GPU - Is fine

RAM - Is fine, no noticeable difference between kingston and corsair. high end corsairs have tighter CAS timings but not worth the premium

SSD, PSU - Is fine. Could go cheaper if you want. Gold or bronze is fine with a good brand like corsair.

Cooler - For air cooling, the noctua dh14 is awesome. I see no advantage with water cooling other than no strain on the mobo.

monitor - why not get 2 more 23" flatrons for a tri-monitor setup? If not, the benq is fine. Did not understand what you mean by 27"-1080p ratio? For better gaming, get one with a higher refresh rate / 4k res... depends on yr budget...

CASE - I don't know if you read my edit, but the noise of my current case comes from the metal grills that vibrate into each other and make lots of noise.

MB - Yep, that far I knew, but what brand/model to pick exactly? Do you have any suggestion or comparisons?

Cooler - Thanks. Do you have any opinion on the Thermalright Silver Arrow?

Monitor - Not interested in tri-monitor since I only want to play in 1 monitor. Second is so I'm able to have other stuff open.
What I meant with the 27"-1080p ratio is that the monitor is bigger, but still same resolution, so won't the bigger pixels be an issue?

Case - Fractal Design makes nice cases that don't cost a lot.
Don't like cases with windows that are too big and show drive trays(Corsair 750D is one of those)
Mobo - Asus Hero
Ram - make sure you buy a low profile kit for large air coolers.
Yes the Silver Arrow is great!
I would have bought one for my rig but supply is non-existent in Canada.
Settled for Noctua D14 = cools my 4770k @4.4 very well.
Otherwise your components look fine.

Use pcpartpicker.com
it helps organize all of your parts, and searches shops to check for the cheapest price.
I think that you should buy a 1TB HDD 7200 RPM because a 512gb ssd isnt that much memory, and you might need more.

Thanks! I'll make sure to take a look into those Noctua ones. How do you think they compare vs the silver arrow?
Also, do you think an Asus MB would be the best choice? Aren't those boards large enough for me to have any RAM kit? Will the cooler really take over?

Thanks! You think the Asus MB would be the best choice?

I'm not in the US, so the prices would be useless.
And I wrote I didn't need much space.

Yes the Asus Maximus VI Hero is a great mobo choice.
And the Noctua D14 and the Silver Arrow are very comparable performance wise.
Personally I would buy the Thermalright (they just are no longer available in Canada)so I had to settle with a Noctua.
Both coolers are massive and require a wide case and low profile ram = I used Corsair Vengeance LP which is compatible.

Thank you both!

The RAM is what is worrying me now. What are your RAM's settings? What model is it exactly?

Are those low profile?

For reference = CML is what Corsair uses as prefix for LP kits which are available in different speeds and latencies

I had a 4x4GB kit from a previous build 1600Mhz CL9 so I re-used it.
You definitely need a LP kit if you plan on using a SA or D14.
I would go for 1866Mhz if I was building today though.

No, however the Trident X's have a removable upper fin (small screw at either end of the fins and slide the fin off), has maybe a 2-3 degree effect on the sticks
