I am planning to do an upgrade on hp pavillion dv7-3080us from HDD to Samsung 250GB 840 Evo-Series SATA III Internal SSD. Would this be compatible with my current system?

I also might add.......installing a good SSD (and the Samsung is the best), is the absolute best way to add speed/performance to your system. When I say your head will spin, I mean it. I couldn't believe the performance that an SSD gives. 99.9% of the time, your performance "bottleneck" is in the I/O. An SSD is without question the best way to get more out of your machine. You won't be sorry you did it.

Not saying that you are incorrect, but my disk cloning via Samsung's "Magician" software went without a hitch. I didn't experience a single problem! :)
