I found this refurbished graphics card thats 6GB and only $500 ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0098HW0H2?ie=UTF8&sel... ) and i wasnt sure if it would be any faster than a 2-4GB graphics card for a bit cheaper. But at the same time though, if i build my computer with a 6GB graphics card, it would probably give it some epic resale value.

The only conceivable reason I could find to get a 6GB is for 3 monitors. However, a 4GB should be plenty even for that purpose. I'd buy the 770 4GB. Why not a 2GB version of the 770?

I''d just like some futureproofing, and i heard that games like BF4 are already using 3gb of vram

Theres a reason nobody really hears about the 6GB 7970, it wasnt popular. People would rater buy a normal 7970 compared to a 6GB one. Get a 770, 2GB for 1080p, and 4GB for higher resolutions. There really is no such thing as "Future proof" in the PC world either.

As Gam3r01 said...no real thing as future proof. What I have found is best, get a GPU that performs as you need (and not overkill) and if in a year or 2 a more demanding game comes out then sell the GPU and upgrade. Case in point.

I had a 660ti and it maxed out BF4. It cost $315. At the time the 7970 was $450-500. And it was slight overkill for 1x1080p gaming. However, a year later the 280x came out (essentially a 7970) in time for BF4, and I got this GPU for $315 as well. I sold the 660ti for $225. So, I did take a bigger hit on this one (compared to last GPU which buy and sell price was only $25 diff) but I have newer product and warranty. Seems like win win in my book.

My advice. Buy a GPU for intended purpose based on what you need now. You can always upgrade in the future, but there really is no point to a 6GB GPU.

There's really no point getting a 6gb 7970. I think the 770 is better. If you're getting the 770, as I always say I recommend the MSI Gaming Line/Twin Frozr
