Built a new PC using these parts

MOBO | ASUS Z87-K
CPU | Intel i5-4670k
RAM | One stick of 4gb DDR3 1600
HDD | 1TB WD Black
PSU |Evga NEX750B

I'm hooking up an HDMI cable to a monitor capable of HD. All the fans and lights turn on, but the BIOS doesn't display. I tried using a monitor and HDMI cable I know worked, and still nothing. I feel like I'm missing something really dumb here, maybe it's the way I plugged in the Harddrive? A faulty stick of RAM? I have no idea what to do here.
If it helps at all, I don't have a CD drive. But the BIOS should still display, right?

with a new system. do the o crap i made a dummy mistake check list. check that the motherboard sitting on top of the 9 brass motherboard standoffs and not shorting to the case. on the motherboard edge is a 8 pin black or colored connector it for power make sure it plugged in. check that the mb not shorting out. on the ram make sure it in slot a0. is the first ram slot. the next slot is b0 then a1 and b1.
