Intel will release a refreshed line up of Haswell CPU's in Q2. Increasing performance by 100mhz compared to current line-up. (K-versions are not part of this refresh I read.)
So.. 100mhz is not a big deal. But it kind of feels like a waste not waiting a bit and getting a slightly faster CPU. Anyone know about WHEN in Q2 those CPU's will be realesed? Is it right around the corner or would I have to wait till summer?
AND I was also thinking/hoping the release would mean dropped prices on current line-up. Or maybe even the K version would drop a little in price. Because even though the i5 k is great, it seems it being great is also reflected in its price. I was planning to buy the i5 -K and maybe overclock down the road, but that doesn't really seem viable with its current price tag. It's now more than double the price of i3-4130.
What's your experience in CPU pricing? Do new releases mean dropped prices on older CPU's? Or perhaps this is already reflected in the price? Or will the old versions just stop being sold?
