Can i have my desktop pc connected to a modem/router via an Ethernet cable, then use that pc to also output a wifi signal to allow wireless devices to connect to the home network? Basically, instead of connecting a router to the primary router, can I use my hardwired pc as that "secondary router" or "access point" for wireless devices? I want to be able to still use the pc and Internet on the computer normally. I want the wireless devices, like an iPod touch, to be able to normally connect to the home network (LAN) as specified in this question. Will I need one of those little USB wireless adapters to connect to the pc to let out the wifi signal? So is this all possible? Again, basically wanting to use my hardwired Windows 8 pc to act as a wireless access point to allow wireless devices to normaly connect to my home network, all while being able to use my pc and use the internet on it and connected devices like normal. How can this be done, if it can? What will I need? Will I need to configure the primary router or anything? Just how can this be done? Please help!

As you wish, you can change your desktop pc to hotspot, for that you need wireless usb adapter to share your internet and a software (freeware available on the internet). So, this will split up the internet and you can access from any wireless devices. But, buying a router or access point will give u great signal range when compared with desktop also desktop need to be switched on whenever u need to access internet through wireless device. the choice is yours....
