So as the title says would i be able to power a other gpu that would be a gigabyte r9-280x that i would xfire with my gigabyte radeon hd 7970.

Spec:
cpu: amd fx-8350
mobo: asus m5a99x evo
ram: kingston 16gb 1333 mhz 4x4 gb sticks
gpu: Gigabyte radeon HD 7970 oc 1000 mhz
storage: 120 gb ssd 60x2 ocz and 1tb normal hdd
cooler: antec kuhler 620
case: fractal design core 3000
psu: 730w thermaltake SP-730AH2NH
optical drive: LG bluray station
fan controller: Lamptron Fan Controller FC5 V2
and 8 fans total in my case including the cpu fan
and then alot of usb's like mouse+headeset+keyboard etc that draws power idk if that really matter.

So would my 730w psu be able to power up if i add a r9-280x?

More about : watt power gpu

Gosh I am no quite sure because r9 and hd are meant to be the same but I don't know if they can crossfire in unison. I don't think you can mate they are different but if you got another 7970 you could crossfire easy with that psu.

In fact, you can crossfire a R9 280x and a HD 7970. AMD has made this possible. I think you'll be fine with that psu.

"For example, the R9 270X can be paired up with an HD 7870 GHz and the R7 260X works happily alongside an HD 7790."

on psu calculator i get 696W i would require with a 7970+r9-280x and my whole setup?

idk if it count much extra watt, so would the 730w psu i have be good enough? i think it should be.

And since you xfire the r9 serie with just the pcie slots do i still need a xfire bridge to crossfire a r9-280x and my 7970 or would it work just to slap it in there? i know if you have 2 of the r9 or so they xfire without the bridge but do you still need a xfire bridge with 7970+r9-280x not that its a problem since i have the bridge.

And my mobo is just 2.0 pcie slots so would that slow down the cards if you compare to a 3.0 slot? on newer mobos

I'm not sure, it'll probably work but I'd recommend 800w for some extra headroom.
