Wine and iTunes walk into openSUSE

Just installed openSUSE on my lappy, and because old habits die hard and also because I have an iPod, I tried to install iTunes and run it through Wine.
Well, the latest version seems to be too much for it to take, so I deleted it and installed 10, and got an error message when trying to open it that "a later version already exists, unable to run". I emptied the bin, restarted the comp and scoured the whole system for the 11version, but found nothing. Repeated this with 10 and downloaded 6, which is what I used in high school, but again, same thing, same message.

Does anyone know what the problem might be and how I might be able to fix it?

Why bother with iTunes? Practically all Linux audio players support iPod.

Banshee and Clementine are two popular players.
