Hi!

I just installed a new wireless network card (Asus PCE-N53) to my PC with H87-PRO motherboard. The PC fails to recognize it, and none of the lights on the hardware are indicating any activity. Installed the latest drivers, but since the hardware is not recognized at all, it didn't help. Any ideas? Is it possible some BIOS setting needs to be tweaked?

Thanks!

True, it does have 2 slots. I overlooked it because the other one is hidden behind the graphics card, which takes 2 slot spaces. I'd rather not move that one though :)

I tried with another PCI slot, but Windows 8 throws exception errors during boot-up :(

No luck with the BIOS update / reset either...

Some more information: the network adapter apparently does show up in Device Manager as "Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller". I've tried to change the drivers with the manual method "Have Disk", but none seem to work. I keep on getting the error message "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" when trying to install the drivers for the device...

Problem was solved after all by selecting a different PCI-e slot. Can't quite figure out what exactly did the trick, but I think having the drivers pre-installed and then plugging the card to a different slot seems to be the right solution. Case closed :)
