Can i use a 7200rpm hdd..currently using hitachi 5200rpm hdd. will it be working?? will using a 7200rpm increase performance?I am using vaio vpccb35fn.

A 7200 rpm drive will work just fine, but make sure it's the right size, there are a couple of height standards for 2.5" drives.

If you want something really fast, get an SSD drive, as long as you don't have a lot of data on the drive, you can get a smaller SSD for about the same price as a 500gig regular hard drive.
