Currently have a 256GB SSD it has steam and origin client + all the games on it

Have a 1 TB SSD coming in a few days which will be my new dedicated games drive.

I would like to switch as easy as possible so has anyone have past experience doing this?

What makes it more complicated is I dont want to lose any game data/save game data, I also have fallout new vegas and skyrim installed with a lot of mods via nexus mod manager that I would rather not go and re mod again.

Nexus Mod Manager is installed on my other OS SSD which I will be keeping if that makes any difference

You can go into > This PC/My Computer > Documents and then copy it's entire contents to a flash drive to then copy back over once the new hard drive is installed. All saves and other files for games are stored here, but to not complicate things by entering folders you can just copy everything along with your other documents and then copy it over to the empty Documents folder once you load Windows back onto the new drive. If all of your games are currently fitting on only a 250GB SSD, then I wouldn't complicate things. Just re-install them all onto the new drive, it shouldn't take that long. My second drive has 180 GB of space used right now, probably quite similar to your game data considering your SSD size, and I only have 21 of 56 games installed. This took me 3 or 4 days and I was playing only one game the whole time so it's not like I was in a hurry for them all to get installed. On an observational note, a 1TB hard drive sounds small for a PC gamer, considering that all PC games have to be installed, unlike console ones, but that's just me. I have a 2TB at the moment and that should last me a while. If I eventually manage to fill that thing up with games, then that would be something to worry about as far as not wanting to re-install them all lol.

As far as your mods, sorry, I don't have enough experience with mods to assist you there.

As for setting up your second drive for game installations, (in case you didn't know) Steam is set up with the intention of installing games on different drives. Enter your secondary drive from windows explorer and create a folder called Steam under that drive extension (mine is E:.) All you have to do from here is, on Steam, go to Steam > Settings > Downloads > Steam Library Folders. Choose your secondary drive and then the folder you just created and select Add Library Folder. Make sure that there are no games currently installing or you will get an error message. If this is the case then just pause them and try again. After the new library folder is created, you will get a drop-down menu during any further game installation. Simply choose the secondary drive each time you install something and continue.

Edit: Just re-read and noticed you said 1TB SSD, not HDD. While I find that extremely unnecessary (because those things sale retail for $400+ and you could easily get a second video card or an upgrade for not much more than that) and your games really won't load much faster than with a high performance HDD, more power to you I guess. That's pretty cool and I'd love one, but I wouldn't buy one. There are certain games that I installed onto the same SSD as my OS, just because I knew that there could actually be a significant difference. These were of course MMO games that usually have long load times for new areas or games to start, such as Final Fantasy XIV: ARR or League of Legends.

Fixed it by using Acronis True Image Cloning Software

The cloning tool is not included in the free trial but I got a serial code this way (I have 2 ocz vector ssd's I got last year, when you visit ocz download page it links you to acronis download, if you bought any ocz hard drives you will have a 30 day trial key printed on the paperwork that came inside the box that will includes use of the cloning tool in acronis true image) The same is true also if you are using an intel ssd, on the intel download page you will find link to their program which acronis make which will let you clone if there is an intel ssd invloved. (no key needed for that, if you are cloning to or from an intel ssd it will work)

My set up was:

128GB OCZ Vector (Windows OS)
256GB OCZ Vetor (Games, Origin, Steam etc)

I got a new 1TB Samsung EVO SSD and wanted this to be my dedicated games/steam drive, the samsung software will only clone your OS drive so I could not use that.

With Acronis Clone tool I managed to clone 256GB over to the 1TB, then clone my 128GB OS drive over to the 256GB, thus leaving me with a 128GB I have no use for now.

The whole process took less than 20 minutes, both disks had about 300GB's of data combined.

The cloning software I used has a nice option to allow you to go from a smaller drive to a larger drive (it will make the overall partition bigger to fit the new drive for example)

On my 256GB SSD I had all my games, steam application, Origin, BF4 etc etc and also a few heavily modded games. And on my 128GB I had a lot of corresponding game data etc in the documents folder.

Done in 20 minutes and all working as it was, great bit of software.
