How to lock seagate backup plus??

I have seagte backup plus external hard drive,I wanna know how to lock it or prevent un-authorized access?? (put a password on the drive)

The best method is to use third party Full Drive Encryption software.

However, it is much more difficult to recover data from an encrypted drive(impossible if you lose the password), so keep that in mind and make proper backups(which you can also encrypt).

Are there any other options (softwares to lock hard drive)?? And what happens after i encrypt my hard drive, will it show to put a password everytime someone tries to open the hard drive??

Locking the drive without encryption doesn't accomplish much because you can always run basic scan for the files.
With encryption, you will enter a password each time you access the drive and you can also make it so no other computers can access the drive but your own.

Truecrypt is a free open source Full Disk Encryption.

I am using macbook pro for encryption but when i encrypt it shows an error: " a guid partion(gpt) partitioning scheme is required " I looked this up on internet it shows go in disk utilites,select hard drive,go on partion tab and select number of partitions you want........I followed all steps But i dont know what happens after creation partitions on my hard drive will it mess my hard drive?? need help ASAP
