I have a Dell XPS 8100 desktop PC and I would now like to upgrade it. "Upgrading" might not be the correct word in this case though, since I would basically like to transform it into a totally different machine, one bit at the time.
It looks to me (correct me if I am wrong) that the worst component of that PC is the motherboard, so I would like to replace that. I have read that prebuilt Dell machines use specific PSUs that only work with those motherboards, so I probably will have to change that as well.
This being said, are there other components that I must change immediately? Would I be able to reuse the current CPU, for example? All other components (RAM, HDDs etc) can be upgraded later on.
