Hi everyone.

Here is my rig:
Z87X-OC Force
32Gb DDR3 Ram
GTX Titan
Intel i7 4770k @3.5ghz
OCZ Vertex 4 250Gb
Corsair 750D case
Plus my blown Corsair AX1200i

After a couple of days in September 2013 of playing my computer, after turning it off it blew up about 30 mins whilst turned off. I got a brand new PSU sent out and never put it in my case until March 2014 (that's when I bought my Corsair 750dD)

I was using an Antec 1200 with an 850w PSU because I thought since my new PSU blew up I will buy a new case to put the new AX1200i in. Which brings me to March 2014 with my 750D.

For 2 weeks everything has been great, cool temperatures and performance flowing. Started playing Titanfall and really enjoying it. Turned off my computer to watch television for a bit and then a loud bang (after 20 minutes of being turned off). Yet another AX1200i PSU gone!

Before questions of maybe I installed it incorrectly, I am a technician so yes I could of made a mistake on installing the PSU but odds are that it was correct (double check everything before I fully assemble computer etc)

My questions:

1. Does this happen to a lot of AX1200i power supplies?

2. Have I got too much spare Wattage that can cause this problem?

3. Am I just very unlucky and have had 2 dodgy PSUs?

Thanks for your time and effort in reading this, as you can probably guess I am fuming as without the PSU the components cost over £1500.

Thanks again, Jamie.

If your PSUs are blowing up while turned off, I seriously doubt it has anything to do with the PSU itself. What kind of surge protection system are you using, and has that given any indication of having kicked in? (they usually have some sort of indicator).

I am using some Belkin Surge Protector, nothing super expensive bit that didn't seem to do anything. The protector is still working and all other plugs are working fine. I have used a corsair 850w for about 4 years with Gtx 570 SLIs and also for about 5 months with this new rig and never a problem. I am just hoping my Titan is ok lol which I'm sure the PSU would have sacrificed itself

Thanks, I might see if an English website will have that. (I'm from UK). Also I'm not sure if I want a refund because of I get the AX1200i it could blow again for the 3rd time. Wonder what to do :-(
