Dear all,

I built a desktop PC and I had it running for 4 months now.
This evening, I was changing some settings in the BIOS to slow down a mild OC which I tested the whole afternoon, reducing the ratio from 42 to 36, and when I selected exit and save the system didn't manage to properly restart. After some 2 or 3 minutes, I pressed the ON/OFF swhich in the front panel and forced a restart.
Then my MB started to act in a funny way. No POST and restarting after 5 seconds and so again. I pressed again the switch and off it went. Unplugged it and waited for a few minutes, but upon the new attempt, the MB made 6 beeps and remained stuck with no video output, neither VGA nor HDMI. After various attempts, I had 3 beeps or nothing at all, I cleared the CMOS and so I managed to POST and the managed to resume also Windows.

I noticed is not the first time that my MB seems to hang for a while, especially when I try to re-start, sometimes it can take 20 or 30 seconds after the switch off to switch it back on.
Do you think I have a lemon here or was it just an unfortunate occasion earlier on?

Thanks a lot

Not sure, consider that until I reset the CMOS, I didn't even manage to get into the BIOS, as the POST failed and the PC was going into loops ON / Off after 5 seconds and ON again. AHCI vs IDE shouldn't be needed until after POST.

And now, this morning, the VGA connected monitor was Out of Range when trying to enter into BIOS until I connected it with a HDMI.
My gut-feeling tells my my MB keeps changing some settings without me willing to change anything. Should I contact Asus for a RMA?

Thanks
