I have an HP laptop with windows 8 that I just bought this past christmas...after updates were downloaded and installed this past Tuesday, windows defender tells me the it detects something and that it's cleaning it out and then it says I have to restart to finish the cleaning process, but after the restart, I can't connect with Internet Explorer even though it shows that I have a full connection, so I do a system restore and the problem is fixed, but then later windows defender tells me the same thing again and I go through the same thing again. The item that is detected is BrowserModifier:MSIL/BrowserSafeGuard. I've been dealing with this for 3 days and it's getting really aggravating. Will it fix the problem if I do a complete reset back to it's original state when I bought it? Can someone please help?
