I am upgrading my motherboard and my cpu. As far as I know, you have to re-install windows BUT I have read online where some people have changed motherboards without having to re-install windows. I don't have a CD copy of Windows as I bought my desktop and it came with it pre-installed. Currently upgrading from an ASUS A55M-A FM2 AMD A55 AMD Motherboard to a ASUS M5A78L-M LX PLUS AMD 760G Motherboard and my Amd A4-6300 cpu to a Amd FX 6100. Please try to be very thorough and dumb everything down for me since I'm not so tech savvy. Thanks! My desktop that I bought came with Windows 8 already installed on it so I don't have the software disks. I've already updated the bios for my new motherboard and each time I boot up my desktop it greets me with a black screen and a blinking cursor at the top left corner.
