Xbox One controller compatibilaty for PC

I really want an Xbox One Controller for my PC. And I am wondering if I would be able to play the last gen games with the new controller.

well yes but Microsoft will be officially releasing drivers for xbox one controllers to be playable for PC. games like dark souls have a gamepad recommendation. (Dark Souls 1) I want to know if the xbox one controller can play the last generation of games or if I will have to get a 360 controller.

Well from the article, "So far, Gallizzi has managed to get Windows to recognize the controller as a human interface device (HID) controller and for the analog sticks to work in a few games such as Hotline Miami and Amnesia. Buttons aren't working just yet"
The answer to your question would be no, since he can't figure it out and Microsoft has not release one yet.
I don't know about XBOX 360 controllers, but I would think so.
