Haven't used it since owning it, bought used and didn't have a PSU to power it up so it was left lying around. Now I have a 550w "great wall" psu which I was given to me for free. When I start the computer up, it gives one long beep, three short beeps. I've done all my ram, with the an old 8600GT the computer runs beautifully, so it's definitely related to either GPU or PSU. Can anyone shed light on whether the PSU is up to the task or not? Or is my gpu just dead.

can be two issues one is a bois issue with the mb if it an older mb and used older intel or via chipset. with the new power supply look to see if it one 12v rail or two. if it has two 20amp rails then the unit can output the voltage needed to run your high end gpu.

That beep sequence is actually a code your motherboard is communicating.
Search for your motherboards manual online and Error beep codes.

But if your computer works as expected without the 570,then you get error beeps with it in,im going to assume the problem is with the amperage on your 12volt rail in your PSU.

The PSU has two 6 pin pci-e connectors so I was under the assumption it should be able to handle it, also nvidia's site says minimum should be 550w which I have.

Just googled and it says the beep sequence I have is for "No VGA detected". I powers up the fan on it though so it's obviously getting some kind of power. Even if I unplug the 6pin connectors it spins the fans.. sigh.
