I have the original pump and radiator from H80i and i'm wondering what liquid should i use. Due to i want to avoid corrosion between Al rad and Cu pump i thought that i could use antifreeze but i heard that antifreeze is "densier" than water so it could kill the pump. I also have distilled water but when i mix anti with dist it would become conductive again?

Hi there!

I would go with a purpose made solution like this http://www.xoxide.com/primoice-nonconductive-fluid-clear.html However, if you do want to go with distilled water the only other thing you will need is a small amount of biocide to inhibit fungal growth. Using antifreeze is pointless though, all antifreeze does is make sure that liquid in a vehicles coolant system remains liquid at below zero temps. I can't really see that being an issue for your PC.

Thanks for your reply. I would like to stay away from ordering abroad. I live in Europe, Estonia and there is only one shop that sells water cooling stuff but only rads, pumps and stuff like that. I want to avoid algae and corrosion and i thought antifreeze should have properties against both of them.

Hello fellow European! I'm in Bavaria :) Here, try this link instead if you do want the pre-made stuff http://www.ebay.de/itm/like/251082297055?lpid=106&_configDebug=ViewItemDictionary.ENABLE_PAYMENTS_IN_HLP:true&hlpht=true&ops=true&viphx=1

I should also give myself a quick kick because the stuff I linked comes pre-mixed with everything you need, including anti-fungal so you need add nothing else. As for using antifreeze, yes it is anti corrosive, though I do not know if it is as effective against galvanic corrosion as a proper custom made liquid would be. And when it comes to the question of it being anti-fungal, I also do not know.

Well, two seconds of research tells me that a 75% distilled water + 25% antifreeze mixture will do fine for a coolant mixture. That said I would personally go for a proper, pre-made solution that had some sort of guarantee of not destroying my equipment.
