Hey :)

I have a ASUS M2N-E Motherboard but nothing happens, when I try to start my PC. It used to work in the past. First I had sometimes trouble to turn it on but now just nothing happens.
I tested the power supply unit by connecting the black and green wire and unplugging the main board just operating two HDs and it worked fine. I also checked the voltages. When plugging in the mainboard again the SB_PWR LED is on, however the computer will not start. I unplugged all devices from the mainboard - still nothing. I wonder whether I connected the 2pin PWRSW correctly but I reversed it and still no effect. Maybe the On/off plug is broken so I tried the RESET plug - nothing. Is there a way to start the computer without using the case of my computer just in case the ON/Off plug is broken?
How can I find what is wrong with my mainboard?

Thanks for all answers!

Hey - thanks for the quick reply!

Are you talking about the two PWRSW Pins? I tried to connect them with a screwdriver and with a paper-clip but nothing happend or are there other pins to connetc as well? Where can I find them?

So if breadboarding fails, and there is no obvious sign of damage is there another way to make sure that the mainboard is dead. Do you have suggestions which mainboard will support my old components?

Not without another board to test.

Anything socket AM2 will work. They don't manufacture them anymore. You can use your processor in an AM2+ board, but you will need to purchase DDR3 RAM. If that's the case you are better off going to AM3+ and replacing the CPU as well.

Just to be sure ... would it also be possible that the mainboard is fine bute the CPU is dead? Would the problem exactly look like the one I'm facing or would the mainboard start up with a broken CPU?

Hey today things were are little suprising.

Nearly ready to buy a new mainboard I decided to do a last test with a power supply unit of a friend ... and it startet so the mainboard is fine.
I've checked my power supply and it will start when just HDs are connected and you connect black and green. I've checked again all the voltages and they are fine as well. This is getting really mysterious.

By the way there is no beep when starting without CPU. PSU will just turn itself off after a while.
