Hi All,

This will be my first build and I'd really appreciate any comments on the below spec. I'm not a gamer, but I will play the odd game. The PC will be for Lightroom, video editing, audio recording, media streaming and general use. I may try overclocking at some point but have a lot to learn.

These are my internal questions at the mo:

Do I need more than the stock coolers and fans if I'm not overclocking?
Is the power supply right or too much?
Where would you spend the remaining budget (£400)
Is the machine balanced and are the parts good choices?

Appreciate any help, it's been a lot of fun configuring this and I hope it's reasonable!

Cheers guys!

I recommend to get GTX760 at least for your PC, but depends on your usage for those-- lightroom, video editing, audio recording, media streaming, if you do a lot then you need the gtx760.
Also the PSU is good for the gtx760 too, and it is over kill for the r7 260x.

Seagate Barracudas have poor reliability apparently and WD Black is a beast.
That Gigabyte R9 270 card will give you great performance and offers amazing price to performance at the moment.
Given you a better PSU, I've heard mixed things about those Cosair RM PSUs.
You definitely need something better than the stock Intel cooler, CM Hyper Evo 212 is stupidly reliable and has great reviews all over the web!

Thank you for the input, I will go for the R9 270 as the 760 seems expensive for a non-gaming machine. I've read that the Seagates have a higher return rate so I've swapped it for the WD Caviar Black. I've bumped it down to 1 TB as I'd rather add discrete drives as I need them.

The case has 8 fan points and comes with 3 already. Would you recommend maxing out the case? I've added the CPU cooler as suggested.

Thank you for the help, this is taking shape nicely!

The 3 included fans are 140mm high airflow fans, so as long as at least one is in-taking fresh air through a filtered intake (probably the front) and one is exhausting out the back or top that should be fine. Point the CM Hyper 212 cooler towards the exhaust fan.

Should be a very nice build. I like that case a lot. You have room for a ridiculous watercooling setup if you ever want to push your 4770K past 4.6Ghz overclock.
