Hello everyone, I have been having a problem for the past week when trying to update my AMD display drivers.
I decided that I wanted to update to the new 14.2 Beta drivers to see what improvement there were in battlefield 4 and I have just bought thief too and so I wanted to have a bit better performance with the new drivers installed. I should also mention that I was previously on the 14.1 Beta drivers before this and a day or two before i decided to upgrade i got some red and blue pixels show up when playing a game. I have had this before and last time it happened it meant that my drivers were corrupt and I should re install them. SO while I was upgrading I decided to update to newest drivers as well.

Anyway I uninstalled the old drivers rebooted and then went into safe mode to use driver sweeper to make sure all the drivers were completely uninstalled. So once I had done this I rebooted again and tried to install the 14.2 drivers, however when installing it was working perfectly until it went to install the actual driver itself. this was when it flickered once like normal and then gave me a blackscreen just like my monitor was off but my monitor was still on(green light was still on, also means there is still a display being received from PC). I gave it about 20 minutes to see if it would display anything again but it never did, so i rebooted my PC and it loaded fine however nothing was installed not even the catalyst suite or anything from the AMD installer.

I checked to see if I could find an answer online and found a few possible solutions so i tried them all, including turning off my PC and draining power then restarting and also a few other solutions such as re-installing chipset drivers as i saw that driver sweeper can delete necessary files. None worked and I have also recently just clean installed windows again but still no success.

I now don't know what it could be, apart from being an hardware issue.
My specs are as follows:
Motherboard: ASUS M5A97 R2.0
CPU: AMD FX 6300
GPU: ASUS AMD Radeon HD 7950 DirectCU II
RAM: 8GB Kingston HyperX Black @ 1600MHz
HDD: Western Digital Blue 1TB
PSU: Corsair CS650M 80+ Gold

My power supply is only 3 months old and i bought it new last year just after Christmas.
If anyone can help I would really appreciate it greatly.

EDIT: I forgot to say that everything works perfectly on the Microsoft basic display drivers and also it worked perfectly for 3 months before the drivers became corrupt a week ago.

Sadly I have tried that as well and it didn't work either. I have also tried a system restore via windows to when everything was working and still no success. This is why I thinknits hardware related.

I have just found someone else having a similar problem and it looks like it could be the refresh rate being wrong. I have checked it before and its set at 64Hz currently instead of 60Hz. I think that could be the problem maybe. Again I'll check when I get home

@toxicthunder I've had very similar problem, ~2weeks ago, it went black when i pump up the graphic setting of World of Tank to Very High. Then puff it went black.

I send days to figure it out, but no luck. I test the card on another PC ( which is nearly identical to my PC's specs, except the mobo ). And it runs fine ...
So i turn to test others components ... all are well.
Long story short, it was heat-related. Some how the fan ( i uses MSI afterburn ) didn't turn on-high-enough when it was in game.
I hope that help.
My PC has 14.4 driver, the other PC has 13.9. Both has:
i5 3570k, 8GB of RAM, PSU is XFX 850W. My has Asrock Z77 pro4, the other has ASUS mobo.
God bless.

If that was the problem I will be really annoyed as I sold it a couple of months ago and got a 260X with the money I got from it, but at the moment I am happy with my 260X as it runs most games on medium settings without trouble. I will hopefully upgrade to a higher end card ater on this year or next year though.

On the others thread, some even suggest to match the refresh to the one that your monitor is capable of ( mostly 60hz). Or use 2 separate aux cable for the card, and turn of Catalyst Control Centre ( do alt + ctr + del thing ). In all and all i ( pretty sure ) think it was heat-related ... in my case at least.
Hope that helps.
