when you add GPUs to a system, you get exponential diminished returns. So 1 card will obviously perform at 100%. Adding a second card will improve anywhere between 60-90% depending on the game. Adding a 3rd card improves performance even less. So a crossfire 290x set up will out perform a 3 way 270x.
