I've been reading a lot about parts and what not, and I think I've found a decent gaming PC build for a student in Australia (as the prices vary a lot more). It costs roughly $1150 AUD and I would appreciate if I could get some feedback on what I should swap out and upgrade for better performance but not too much extra cash. I'm not really looking to pay much more than $1300 AUD. Thanks!

I'm aware there's no case or PSU, but there's a case from the website I'll be buying from which isn't on pcpartpicker.com and it has an Intel ATX 12V 2.2 (500W) preinstalled. If anyones interested, the case is Thermaltake Versa H22

another question you are purchasing a CPU that is unlocked. do you plan on overclocking? if so i would recommend the hyper 212 evo for the heatsink also

i just noticed you are getting a power supply that comes with the case...in my experience those tend to be janky and not up to specs. i would recommend a power supply from a trust brand here is a good one

i know that your budget didn't include to purchase a separate power supply but i really recommend you get something you know what the brand is and is trusted to be of quality components. if you do decide to purchase a power supply what would be your budget?

Me being the complete idiot that I am, I didn't even notice that. In the actual build it's this:

For some reason I can't find it on the website so.. yeah I'm an idiot haha. Thanks for your speedy response, but other than the RAM do you believe it's a decent gaming PC?

it's cool but yeah that ram with 2 sticks looks good, other than my comment above about getting a name brand power supply the build looks fine and dandy

Believe it or not, I originally had that exact PSU but from what was available to me with the cases in my budget were horrific. That case seemed to have a better ability for non-ventilated air with the benefit of having the PSU. Also this is my first build and I don't even know what overclocking is.. or an unlocked CPU.. :S

ah it's ok. what overclocking is is running a processor faster than it normally runs and you need an unlocked cpu to do it which is what you are purchasing. it's cool to buy it it'll run just fine. maybe down the line when you get more adventorous you can google how to overclock and maybe get into it. but for now what you have is perfectly fine.

hopefully the psu that comes with the case will be fine.

Would this CPU be better?

It's the one I originally had but it sort of pushed my budget a bit.

the link in question is for another motherboard. but the cpu you picked is just fine. you dont need any more power than that for gaming unless you plan on doing other things like video editing and rendering and other compute intensive task really.
