I am having horrid FPS drops in wow, this hasn't always been the issue but I feel that my system should be preforming better then this. I can have all my setting fixed to give me 80+ frames while alone but add some players or fighting and im lucky to get 15 frames.

Here is my DxDiag, I cant seem to figure out where the issue/bottleneck is for sure..

Another thing to add back to what Onkel said is true, I think WoW gets confused when dealing with multiple cores so you may get s light performance hit, but at the end of the day them 2 extra cores will help you multitask with wow open.

I've helped out someone with a similar problem in another thread. It seems to be a general WoW problem. I'd have a look around the Blizzard forums. There are a lot of people with powerful PCs that have performance issue in large raids. I can't tell you more than that because I don't play the game.

It's the game, not your PC, I have a nice computer too and I can hit below 30fps sometimes in 2moons, being on a more low pop server will help your fps too. The game is so old that it's runs mainly off CPU and it can never get enough CPU power.

That was the answer i was telling myself all this time but i have one question that has baffled me, I bought my girlfriend a pc awhile back that was a i3-1250 3.1 Duel Core with 6 gigs ram and a graphics card that isnt all the powerful but she is running 100 fps in the world and like lowest is 45ish fps in the shrine and TB.. The question that i wonder is if i should upgrade to a i5 or i7 to get past this issues.. I have heard of the fx amds not preforming as good as the i series. your thoughts?

I don't know much about the issue. Just the one thread I googled for the other guy. In that thread there were several guys with identical builds. Some had the problem, while others didn't. Some of the guys with performance issues had the i5 3570k. I think that should answer your question.

I know wow doesn't utilize multiple cores well, it normally uses 1-2 cores, that's why the i3 will get almost the same as an i5. I would instead try to find intel chip that has 2 cores that have a fast clock speed, e.g. I say intel because each of their cores performs better than an AMD, which is why AMD make more cores to try and keep up. If you purely want it for wow, look into a cheap duel core processor with high frequency, atleast 3. Overclocking it with a good fan would be even better. But if you plan to not upgrade from this choice in the near future and want to play other games other than wow then an i5/i7 would be much better. Alot of games(excluding wow) take advantage of all 4 cores nicely. I have the 4670k i5 and it works great, it's the top i5 as far as I know. Intel chips are always more pricey than AMD though, you get slightly better performance for money with AMD, I don't think this is much better than intel though. Hope this helped :)

Thank you guys for the answers. I took your advice and started checking all the info I could on the benchmarking and comparisons of my processor and the i3 in performance. The statistics show just what you said David, the I series tends to have a fast clock speed per core so the games played better but multitasking and large programs like photo shop fair better on processors like mine..

I do only really use wow at the moment but in the future I would like to have the option for more games, so I decided ill try to get the i5 4670k.
