Would PCI-E X16 1.0 work with PCI-E X16 3.0 Graphics Card

I have recently been wanting to upgrade so i found the 750 Ti Superclocked which is perfect for me but I realized it required a PCIE X16 3.0 Lane and i only have PCIE X16 1.0 lane. My model number is P7 1240 , would my PCIE X16 1.0 work with the EVGA 750 Ti SuperClocked? Would there be any performance drawbacks if it did work? What are your suggestions?

Don't quote me on this, but I think that that Graphhics Card is backwards compatible, so it will work, just at a slower rate. In other words, it won't have the performance of a 16x Slot. Hope this helped.

PCI-E is backwards compatible. The only question is, will it be a bottleneck? From what I have read on the internet it will be fine. Most cards barely make use of the full PCI-E 2.0 potential, let alone PCI-E 3.0. I'd try to do some more research on the bottleneck issue. People say with absolute certainty that it will or will not be a bottleneck, but no one ever provides any sources. I know from user reports that high end cards from 2 or 3 generations earlier worked fine on PCI-E 1.0 without any sever bottlenecks. I can't say about 750ti for sure though.

Would it be bottlenecked because of the Pcie X16 1 lane? How much performance would i lose if i got it? Is it worth it to get the EVGA GTX 750 TI Superclocked version, or should i go with the reference EVGA 750 Ti? Or just the plain EVGA 750 (non ti)?

I've just found something:
PCI-Express benchmark

The cards tested there are all quite a bit faster than the 750 ti, so you should be fine. If there is no big price difference just go with the Superclocked. It will have better cooling, if nothing else.

Guys!!!! Im extremely sorry for being such a noob! I thought because there is one slot of the pci e x16 lane that it was gen 1.0. It is actually one slot of PCI E X16 Gen 2.0. So how would the performance be with a PCI E X16 2.0?

It depends on the game, the resolution and the settings. Sometimes the CPU will be a bottleneck, sometimes the GPU. Either way, the 750 ti is a good upgrade. Just go with it.
