After a long wait trying to get the OEM to replace the processor, I convinced the owner to let me purchase one. I purchased a G645 SR0S from Amazon. This is going into an Intel AA G14064-210 motherboard. According to the Intel site this is an acceptable CPU for this MB.
My question is, are there any precautions I should take when installing the CPU other than grounding myself onto the chassis? Can I use a magnetic pickup to insert the CPU into the socket?
My alternatinve to a magnetic pickup is to use a suction cup. My concern is touching anything on the bottom or sides of the CPU.
My previous 3 attempts to install a CPU into this model MB have been a disaster.
This time I have obtained from Intel a new MB and with the purchase of a new box CPU I am hoping all will go well.
I am also assuming the BIOS is OK since this was a running PC before the first MB had a 12 volt supply short with the CPU installed.
Thanks for any suggestions. I am gun shy now that I spent $80 on a CPU.
