Windows refuses to load properly. I have completed(well thought i had obviously) a new build with an Asus Z87-A and i5 4670K. My old windows drive was showing signs of corruption and i could not restore it. I removed it from the system and moved to a Sandisk 64gb ssd. I re-installed windows with no problem or errors on this new drive.
Now however, when the system goes through processing it will load up to the Microsft boot screen(the green loading bar) for only a few seconds. It then cuts to black/resets the entire system and begins again. Digging around i am left at an impasse. No board alerts, all installing, etc. seemed to be fine. The only thing i wonder is this is Windows Vista(the only windows CD i had around from a previous build. It was not OEM, and i have not gotten any windows alerts saying its out of date. I get nothing in fact, but apparent normal loading into a reset everytime. Is this a possible OS issue with the mobo?

You should also run MEMTEST for a complete pass www.memtest.org

For now, just UNHOOK any SSD or HDD and boot to a Memtest CD/DVD.

Other:
1. Update the motherboard BIOS (if possible)
2. Set the Sata controller to AHCI (if not)
3. Try a DIFFERENT Sata controller (Intel is usually best if available)
4. Try a DIFFERENT drive (hard drive, not SSD)

Thank you for the suggestions. I will try the memory test next. I figured it cant hurt to just start over from square one, move forward one component at a time to see if i can clear it up. i will look to see if i still have a Linux install to boot from as well. That is the problem with all these unlabeled flash drives i have around. You can never remember what is on what until you look.

Thanks again for the suggestions, ill update with any possible fix/solution. Maybe we will get lucky and im just being stupid and overlooking something simple. lol

That remains quite mysterious. After removing everything and putting it back one item at a time, i was able to re-reinstall windows and it succesfully boots into windows(though now i cannot find my network, but that is a far simpler and easily fixed problem).
I wish i had an explanation as to its earlier refusal to boot, followed by the initial windows install to the SSD not taking. Im going to keep an eye on the SSD as i am leaning to that as a possible culprit.
Thanks all.

gah, i spoke far too soon. After updating BIOS (as nothing is working with the motherboard, networking, gpu, etc. etc) i am getting nothing but machine exception BSOD. This motherboard just seems to be issues after issues, and any search gives me a lot of similar problems or other issues. I think my real fix is going to be returning this for something else.

Indeed, fully updated the bios with no problem. However the network controller still fails to load amongst a few others. Ive removed the gpu and all other drives. Im going to look through and try out the drives one at a time with different controller setups but thats a bit of a final push.
