I'm sure this is a re post but I cant get a definitive answer from what I've read.
So my question is this. I am building a new pc. It will be used to play games. Is it better to get a Xeon with loads of cores (i see 12 core chips at overclockers) or an i7? Cost is not an issue here. And would a duel chip board be even quicker? or am I right in thinking no games utilise two chips

Solution
If your using it to play games you won't need the extra cores. The most for any games currently is the i5-4670(4 core 4Thread) the i7-4770(4 core 8 thread) provides no real boost with games. and neither does the i7-4960 (6 core 12 Thread) the 4960 does have a slight advantage with multi GPU because it has 40 PCIE lanes instead of 16
