I was thinking about the very same thing but only problem is my MoBo says it only supports crossfire. no sli logo on the board.

Go for this.

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/EVGA/SuperNOVA_G2_1000/

Its an excellent psu and great value for money.

Fully modular, 1000 watts, easily gold efficiency and actually just misses out on platinum efficiency by a small margin, about 30 pounds cheaper than the next nearest comparative psu.

I have it myself and its excellent, I am going to use it to crossfire 2 Asus Dircet CU 2 R9 290xs.

BTW if its a 1000 w PSU like the one I listed is and gold efficiency to 90% like the one I listed is, it only gives 900 watts of power.

So 2 Asus Direct CU 2 R9 290xs are about 315 watts each so that's 630, the rest of my set up including case fans draw about 200 watts, put that together and that's 830 watts which gives me 70 watts left over for if I wish to increase my ram from 16 gb to 32 gb and add another HDD incase I need more than 1 tb of space.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is even with a great psu like the 1 I listed, there is very little spare wattage left over, just about enough to add 2 more case fans if I want to go from 4 to 6, add another HDD or SSD and add 2 more ram sticks.

If I added all of those, I would have between 30 and 35 watts left unused which is very tight and its always good to have a little head room so I would always want that much unused anyway rather than having a pc freeze or crash.

You are in a similar boat as me so I suggest you do as I have done.

Having said that, I have an i7 4771, if you plan to overclock your i7 4770k, you might even use up that 30 watt headroom and not have enough power.

Tbh, I think there isn't enough power even in this 1000w to overclock with the components that I listed above, hence 1 reason for me getting the i7 4771.

UK, still im stuck. I think if i get another 750watt psu primarily for the gpus and my current 750watt psu for the rest of the system. ofcourse it won't fit in my case but it'd be much cheaper and give me extra piece of mind. BTW would 750watt even be enough for 2 r9 290x only ( without mobo, cpu, ram ,hdd/ssd) and would i be able to overclock?

It would be but it's seriously not practical.

You could probably get £40 or so for the 750 maybe more like £50.

Why don't you just take one 780ti as 1stronger card> 2 weaker cards.

I've also discovered a fatal flaw in this mobo.

It's trash for even crossfire. The second PCI-E slot is at x4 speed so the card will not perform anywhere near it would if it was at x8 or x16.

Single 780ti best option here.
