My son gave my wife one of his old laptops which is great, but she complains "It's too slow" I want to replace the processor the aspire 5050 to gain some speed. I added 2G RAM and it helped a little, but not enough.

I have a TMZM84DAM23GG processor, but after reading some of the posts about cpu replacement, I think TMZM84DAM23GG might not be compatible.

I would appreciate any thoughts on this processor or replacements.

i know your saying it's too slow but too slow as in how it responds when you open up applications? or rendering? or something of that nature? what is she doing that defines it's too slow.

asking because if she has a lot of programs installed where memory isn't sufficient even after an upgrade or doing heavy video editing or rendering then the upgrade may not be enough.
