This is my first build and I want to make sure that the pieces will actually work together and that it will perform so that I would get the most bang for my buck. Here's what I have:

Case: Fractal Design Define XL R2 FD-CA-DEF-XL-R2-BL Black/Pearl Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...)

CPU: Intel Core i7-3820 Sandy Bridge-E 3.6GHz (3.8GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 2011 130W Quad-Core Desktop Processor (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...)

Motherboard: ASRock X79 Extreme6 LGA 2011 Intel X79 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...)

Graphics Card: GIGABYTE GV-N770OC-4GD GeForce GTX 770 4GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready WindForce 3X 450W Video Card (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...)

RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...)

Power Supply: CORSAIR RM Series RM750 750W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...)

Any input would be greatly appreciated. If you think this rig can be a little watered down and give me about the same performance, let me know!

if you want bang for your buck, stay away from the 3820.

Good build, but here is a cpu with the new haswell series design. Sandy bridge is now outdated thanks to this new architecture.
