[moved from another thread as i think it was in the wrong one. this is for windows 7 with the playclaw software as playclaw doesnt seem to have proper forums]

so i just updated my components in my system, got me an 8 core cpu and a new SSD and new motherboard and on my last mobo and cpu, with certian games i was able to record with playclaw at 60 fps, now with all that in mind and with a new cpu and such, now i cant record games at the same settings at 60 fps. but at a lower 43-48 fps, but idk why. i have the latest drivers for my mobo cpu and gpu. and i have my settings to the default like last time but i still get a drop when recording, though i shouldnt theoreticly with the 8 cores. so im not sure what to do here. any advice will help. below is my dxdiag to help out.

you may be seeing the combined effect of scheduling issues due to the fact that windows 7 was released long before the current amd cpu family was introduced, together with a cpu whose performace is a mixed bag on non-heavily threaded software. unlike intel SMT's cores those 8 are actually 8 cores, but only half of them have floating point units. on your old cpus, there were 4 full core, each with fp units, so it did not matter to which core a thread was to be assigned, on your new one it does. i'm not sure whether a service pack / hotfix for Win7 contained that fix, i'd have to look into it. windows 8 is aware of those latter amd cpus so the scheduling is handled properly.

if everything else is unchanged, my guess is that's the reason.

well thats the weird thing, on my old less powerful cpu, there was no frame drop at all, now on games that run at even 300 fp [hl2 for example] im getting a major frame drop on my new cpu and motherboard, but on my old one i didnt get any fram drop. so im not sure wherein the problem lies

well i also just got me a brand new SSD as well so i dont think that would be the issue, and my 2TB hard drive runs fine as well cause i had to replace it recently.

ok i need to go for the moment. when applied that fix might increase performance from 1% to 7% according to the app. the ugly truth is the current amd arch is just not .... what was hoped for ( i have to be careful what i say to avoid yet another flame war on this issue ) so you might not be able to get that kind of capture fps again if that's indeed what's happening.

here's a link on this issue, please read it: http://www.anandtech.com/show/5448/the-bulldozer-scheduling-patch-tested

(two fixes according to this article)
