You are gonna laugh at this one. For some reason my partners father took the keyboard off her laptop and in the process snapped half the connector off the motherboard (Toshiba Satellite C650) so now there's no way to connect a new keyboard. Usually the plastic clip on these connectors go but oh no, he somehow managed to rip half the connector off the board itself ¬_¬

Does anyone know what the name of the actual connector is that is soldered onto the motherboard? I'm hoping to remove the half that is still attached to the motherboard and solder a new one on.

You may want to have a careful look at the motherboard itself. Particularly the section where the connector is broken off. Did it rip up the traces? If it has, then you will not be able to solder a new one on because the solder pads will not be there. It is most likely solder on using SMT (Surface Mount Technology) which means the electrical and mechanical connection to the motherboard is provided by the solder fillet.
