Hi guys, hopefully someone can help me out here and save me quite a bit of cash...Netgear's customer service is a ripoff (they want me to pay $70 for an answer to a question the rep I was speaking with even admitted was a relatively easy one...could just buy a new router for that kind of money!) I am not very savvy when it comes to networking, and I am especially out of my element when it comes to the lingo/terminology, so please go easy on me 
I have had CenturyLink DSL as my ISP for some time now. Rather than rent a modem+router from them, I purchased my own equipment; a Netgear DGN2200v4. It did it's job while I had DSL.
Just yesterday, I switched from DSL to CableOne's cable internet. When setting up the appointment, I opted to again purchase my own equipment. I tracked down a Zoom 5341J DOCSIS 3.0 modem that does not have wireless capabilities. I double-checked with CableOne that I would be able to use my Netgear equipment as a router only, which they confirmed.
The cable guy came and went yesterday, and was unable to figure out how to configure the Netgear equipment to function solely as a router. I got on with Netgear's phone support after he left, and the rep I spoke to confirmed that the DGN2200v4 could indeed function as a router only, and was compatible with a cable modem. Then she asked for a bunch of money to tell me how to do it so I hung up on her.
Now, after a fruitless night of googling potential solutions, I find myself ready to just go buy a standalone router unless I can find some sort of direct answer to my question (I will not give Netgear the satisfaction of getting away with charging what they charge for tech support that should be free!) Every help site/walkthrough/forum I find seems to be focused on configuring the router to work in bridge mode with another router.
All I want to do is switch the modem part of the Netgear equipment I have OFF, and do whatever else is necessary to allow it to function as a standalone router compatible with the cable modem I own. Unless Netgear tech support was lying to me, there is some way of doing this according to them.
