Does that mean it's better?

Because the XL2420T is 463€ and the XL2420Z is 363€

I'm confused :S

Make sure that your BENQ Z-Series has the V2 firmware.
http://gaming.benq.com/media/news/reviews/mbr-clarifica...

That makes sure it is compatible with third party utilities, such as the Blur Busters Strobe Utility.

Wow, thanks!

Does that mean that some older XL2420Z have worse software and they have implemented a new one on the recent ones?

How can I know if it has the new or the old firmware? Does it say on the box?

XL2420Z is pretty much an enhanced version of XL2420T, with new features that Bad_kitty13 already listed. The price you listed for XL2420T seems weird though. Are you sure it wasn't XL2720T (27 inch version)? Here the price of XL2420T is about 330€ and XL2420Z is about 370€, which seems reasonable.

Yes older units have version 1 firmware. I dont think you can see it on the box. Ask the seller. Other options include sending the monitor to your nearest benq service center or buy/build the tool needed to do the upgrade yourself.

Edit: A picture of the tool one of the guys built in our shop to update XL-Z series benq until the factory built mstar tool arrives. It works well but we had to find an old laptip with parallell port to use it.

Yes, this is the power-user upgrade method!
There are also DIY firmware upgrade instructions using an upgrader dongle that BENQ engineers use.
Much easier -- or just buying a BENQ Z-Series monitor with Version 2 firmware preinstalled.
