Good Evening Ladies & Gents.

I am about to pull the trigger on purchasing 2 x GTX 780 in SLi. One question I have is will the Maxwell architecture overhaul existing GPUs'?

Are there any other reasons I should hold off? Running 2560 x 1440 Dell Ultrasharp, so grunt is required.

Thank you!

Very unlikely. It will be the 800 series before we see much more of Maxwell

i would wait for maxwell also, lower power and better performance, can you wait the year out? keep in mind people usually keep graphics cards like 4 years, and it'll bite you in the butt cuz you didnt wait a few months for the latest and greatest imo

Maxwell showed up first at the lower end in the GTX750ti and mobile chips where power savings was important.
If you wait for the high end Maxwell , it is likely to be by the end of the year. Perhaps later.
Possibly amd might have an offering then.

Regardless, a single GTX780 will play most games on a single 2560 x 1600 very well.
If you have any doubts, make that a GTX780ti.

At some time in the future, such a card will be an easy sell to replace it with a much stronger Maxwell.
