Tried with both my PS3 and PC(Only checking with PC to see settings/more testing)
when trying to use my monitor to play audio I get no sound what so ever. Under playback devices it shows it should be playing audio but isnt producing any sound, and within the menu of the monitor I have the volume set to 100.

Just as to an idea of what I'm seeing in playback:

In anycase, I'm at a complete loss as to why I cant get audio to play, the ps3 has its own automatic settings and I've gone through all the manual parts I can find that deal with it and am clueless.
Any help is appreciated.

It's probably a faulty cable since it is happening for both devices and not just one. Try a different HDMI cable if you have one available.

Hrm, I guess I could borrow a roommates really quick to test out. The cable I have seems fine for everything else, though it was pretty cheap and to quote the invoice from a year or so ago "nGear NG-HDMI V1.4 -MM-6 HDMI M/M 6FT High Speed HDMI 3D Ready HQ Video Cable". Pretty sure its not the best brand but.
Will post back after using a new cable.

Edit:
Just tried it with another cable along with a 360 brand hdmi (both which I know have working audio with them on other devices (tv in living room) and still no audio.
