Current:
CPU: AMD x3 Phenom II
MOBO: ASUS M4A79T Deluxe
Memory: 4x2GB Corsair XMS3 1600
GPU: Sapphire ATI 5770
OS: Windows 7 Pro

Planned Upgrade:
MOBO; ASUS M5A99 PRO
CPU: AMD 6350 or 8320
Keeping RAM, GPU, Win7 Pro.

I can currently get the FX-8320 for $140 which seems to make it an ideal Price/Cost ratio over the FX-63xx and the Intel I5-4xxx series. Plus I get to keep hardware.

I mainly use the system for casual Windows specific office and programming as well gaming (WoW has been my primary game but probably Titian Fall and Elder Scrolls released). For real gaming, I have a PS4 ;)

WHat is the communities thought on the FX-8320 as a replacement?

Yeah a nice little budget build that will kill the ps4

+1 to this plus if you get the 8320 your only one GPU away from a nice little budget build

Yeah true that the 5770 is not a good gpu option for modern games.

I don't think that board is compatible with any FX cpu's. You need either a board with 970 or 990 chipset. Yours is 790 which is even older than 890 which also didn't support FX or Vishera cpu's.

Yes the ASUS M5A99 PRO is compatible

Not for WoW it won't. If ESO uses the same engine that Skyrim did (likely), then the i3 will outperform the FX.

I didn't see he was upgrading his motherboard too. I thought he was keeping his ASUS M4A79T Deluxe. The M5A99 PRO is a great choice. He should be able to get a good overclock with a good cpu cooler.

The Upgrade is to an FX-8320 + ASUS M5A99 PRO Motherboard. THe M5A99 is a 990FX based board.

I am keeping my RAM, Lian Li Case (sadly it does not have a 120mm fan), 650 Corsair PSU, WD 1TB drive that supports 6GB/s (but I am only get 1.5 now), DVD, etc.

I will upgrade the GPU, but it is good enough until next months pay check ;)
