I dont know what to buy in my ongoing pc build. I read threads about which is better. Amd or intel. And most of the time the answer is intel.

Is the intel 2 cores i5 much better than amd's 6 cores?

I am planning to maximize my budget of $550. I dont want to spend $250 -$300 for just my processor. Or is it better to spend more money and buy an i7?

I plan to use my pc just for editing stuff. Just a hobby. And gaming. Wanting to have 720 res. And fps around 40-50. Or just a smooth gameplay.
Give me also an opinions about graphics card. Nvidia or amd?

if you can give me a decent build for $550 its much more appreciated. Thank you.!

Solution
an i5 is 4 cores and if you can get one for more than a fx 6xxx series then yes the performance is alot better on the gaming side
if you are on a budget though and you meant an i3 then a 6300 or a athlon 750k is the better choice. a i3 will hyper thread to 4 cores but most games dont utilize hyper threading. especially if you are editing go for a 6xxx series a i3 couldnt handle it

I would recommend the FX-8320 build as they are on sale right now and you are getting a lot more performance for extra $25.

Solution
BadKitty, hyper threading is an intel technology that is always on, and isn't something a game has to support or not, the CPU will also have 4 threads available. And a 750k will in NO way be better than an i3, it has horrible thread performance. The 6300 is the way to go here.
